Some of you out there are designing great looking web sites. You have taken hours upon hours to get your site to look just right. The layout is perfect, calls to action in the right places, but there is no reaction in the search engines. IF you show up you’re on page 12 and it’s for something that has nothing to do with what you are selling. Why?
Meta Tags – love’em, don’t leave them!
Below are a the 4 must have tags for your site. They are essential to the success of your site, just don’t spam them. Spamming of course is the practice of filling the keyword and description and title tags with words just to attract the search engines. This will in the long run harm you more than having no keyword tag at all.
<title>Hippocampus Marketing Internet Marketing Seminars and Education For small Business</title>
<meta name=”description” content=”Hippocampus Marketing strives to bring ….”>
<meta name=”keywords” content=”Internet Marketing, Social Networking Seminars, …”>
<meta name=”robots” content=”index,follow”>
Are there other meta tags?
Yes there are, but are they used? the answer is yes and no. There are so many meta tags out there that there is no one really complete list around. One meta tag list over at Tag Snob. Not every tag is recognized by every search engine. You will have to decided which ones to use.
Where do these things go in a web site?
